Can I get Disability Benefits for Pregnancy in South Africa?

Can Women Get Disability Benefits for Pregnancy in South Africa?

In Canada, a pregnant mother can get up of 4 weeks of disability benefits for a regular pregnancy before their due date. In South Africa, that isn’t the case. A pregnancy is very unlikely to be defined as a disability or illness in terms of any South African policy wording.

An insured individual can only claim disability benefits when the condition falls within the definition of disability defined in their policy. If the pregnancy results in a disability, as defined in the policy, then the policy must respond.

To find out if you can get disability benefits, you can consult with your broker or have a look at the definition for disability in your insurance policy document. It is, however, highly unlikely.
